Induction Heating
Inductotherm Private Airport
There was an odd situation on the Indel property. A long grass landing strip was neatly mowed but not used. Rowan was having a fight with people who owned property along the east side of the strip. The complained to the FAA that landing flights were too close to their house and they were awaken at night by landing aircraft. Rowan refused to pay prices elevated asking for these houses as a matter of principle and the runway remained idle for years.
During a visit in July 2000 I saw that the runway had been moved a few hundred feet and the private homes remained. A hanger had been constructed and Rowan's jet was parked near the door. I reasoned that turning the runway allowed it to be longer with better approaches was the driving force for this expensive change and not the cost of the houses.
